As of late, I find my thoughts continuously drifting across the sea to Africa, and when they do, I think of every little thing that I take for granted in life. Food, shoes, clothes, soap, a house, a goose down comforter, a bathroom, plenty of transportation. I think about how so many people in this country starve themselves to look the part, and how so many people in Africa die of starvation because they don't have the choice. I stumbled across this video awhile back, and was extremely touched by it. I hope that as you watch it, the Lord will speak to your heart.

it is so hard not to take for granted the comforts we are blessed to have (shoes and down comforters). continually giving of ourselves to go and experience the way people live outside the US is a great way to gain and keep a perspective of living a thankful, purposeful, missional life.
like the song said, the hope i saw in people's eyes in Haiti really does make me question if i am living and loving completely focused on the kingdom of God.
thanks for sharing the video, laura! it was great.
